ICC conference to examine new trends in commercial arbitration
Paris, 20 October 2005

Next International Advanced Arbitration Practice Workshop of ICC Institute of World Business Law will take place in Paris on 7-8 November 2005.

An opportunity to catch up on new trends in international commercial arbitration will be provided by the ICC Institute of World Business Law in Paris on 7-8 November. The Institute’s International Advanced Arbitration Practice Workshop is designed specifically for experienced practitioners in international commercial arbitration, to provide a deeper understanding of ICC arbitration. Academics and government officials wishing to increase their knowledge of the subject will also find the workshop valuable.

Each session in the two-day workshop will be led by eminent experts in international arbitration, with an emphasis on the exchange of views and experience. Several of the discussion leaders were involved in the development of the ICC International Rules of Arbitration. By focusing on concrete examples of arbitration and providing informal discussion of the issues involved, participants will be able to heighten their knowledge of present-day practice.

The workshop themes include: new trends; essential and optional elements of the arbitration clause; the arbitral tribunal, appointment and role of the arbitrator; terms of reference and organization of the procedure; evidence and hearings; enforcement of awards and a topical 2 hours forum on tax aspects in international arbitration..

The number of participants is limited to approximately 40 to encourage interactive discussion. The sessions will be in English.
