Seventh Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 7)

Mr Kees Noome, Advanta Seeds and representing the European Seed Association, presented the industry statement during the Opening Plenary session of the 1st Meeting on the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (transboundary movement of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) in Kuala Lumpur on 23 February (following the 7th Conference of the Parties of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity).

ICC Biosociety Commission Vice Chairman, Dr K K Jajodia (Group Chairman, Assam Company Ltd, India), pictured left, hosted a reception on Th ursday 19 February, during the 7th Conference of the Parties of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Kuala Lumpur. Under the title "Encouraging the participation of delegates from business and industry in the CBD process, highlighting the ICC Comission on Biosociety, with a particular focus on members from developing countries", the meeting attracted many government delegates from both developed and developing countries, and business representatives from many sectors, including plant sciences, biotechnology, agriculture, seeds, petroleum, and others.
