A breakfast for young lawyers took place on 13 May 2009, in Rio, Brazil, at Ferro, Castro Neves, Daltro & Gomide Advogados. 25 young lawyers attended the meeting.
Following an overview on the work and structure of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat, José Ricardo Feris, Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Alice Franco, from the hosting firm, and Valeria Galindez, ICC YAF Regional Coordinator for Latin America Chapter, answered to and made comments on the numerous questions from the participants about various issues such as the role of the Secretariat of the Court in controlling time and costs, how does Netcase work, the independence and the replacement of the arbitrators, the correction and interpretation of the awards under article 29 of ICC Rules.
The breakfast was also the occasion to make the point on the ICC YAF Latin America Email forum. The participants who were not aware of its existence looked forward to subscribing. We remind you that the forum aims at facilitating academic and practical discussions on arbitration between the members of an ICC YAF Regional Chapter, and other YAF members who may be interested in the region. The explanations on how to become a member of the forum are available at the following page of the site:
